Hand Picked Fruits and Vegetables

Nothing is better than eating freshly picked fruits and vegetables. The richness and purity in flavour cannot be beat. For every day after an item has been picked, it loses some of its taste. Much of the produce found in stores today are picked too early for its full flavour to even develop.

Each spring, my garden is planned with my menu in mind. My crops vary from year to year depending on the successes of the previous year’s harvest. I try to grow as many of my ingredients that I need as possible.

I grow heritage Columbia Blue raspberry that have been rejuvenated from my father’s plants, red raspberries, yellow

raspberries, gooseberries, a variety of currants and pears that are featured in many of my products.

What I do not grow, I buy from local farmers. Fruit such as peaches, nectarines, apricots and some plums, I purchase from a small Niagara region farm. I have developed a good relationship with them and their growing practices are similar to my own. I like knowing where my fruit comes from before I use it in my products.

My gardens are all planted and maintained using natural gardening techniques. The soil is free from harsh chemicals, pesticides and fertilizers. These products may increase the size of the plants but they greatly reduce the natural flavors of the produce.

I will plant and care for specialty crops upon request, simply contact me and I can put together an estimate for you.
